Hours ago, another security personnel has reportedly been killed in River State. PM News reports that the victim died when the joint security team consisting of the army, police and DSS where ambushed during their patrol at Egi in Omoku Community of Ogba/Ndoni/Egbema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Confirming the incidence, Assistant Director Army Public Relations of 2 Brigade of Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, Captain Eli Lazarus said,
“The criminals engaged the security team for several hours before they were eventually dislodged. Sadly, a security agent lost his life in the unfortunate incident. Reinforcement has been sent to beef up security in the area and normalcy has been restored.
“The general public is hereby advised to remain calm and be law abiding throughout the election period and beyond as security agents will continue to work assiduously to ensure security of lives and property,” he added, though he did not give out the identity of the victim.
Meanwhile, new reports have confirmed that gunmen abducted Elyon Ntiro Elijah, an APC chieftain in Andoni local Government area in Rivers State. PM News reports that the details of his abduction is yet to be confirmed, but the politician was taken last night in a speedboat at Asarama waterside in Andoni.
