Yesterday, a female NYSC member attached to the National Assembly in Abuja narrowly escaped being raped by a yet-to-be-identified man.

The Nation reports that the corps member had gone to use the female restroom at the upper legislative chamber of the house when she was accosted by a heavy-set man. She was about to strip her underwear when the man barged into the female restroom and made for her. But she yelled for help and so he fled.
Crying, she reported the incident to the people at the Senate Wing of the house. “As the man approached me, I had no option than to raise the alarm and the man took to his heels.”
But no action was taken after she made this report, The Nation says, as the security personnel did not take up the case nor try to identify the threat.
