Yemi Alade has been Nominated for the BET Awards Again; Will She Reject it After Calling it a ‘Glorified’ Award?

Nigeria’s Yemi Alade and Wizkid have been given another nod for the BET: Best International Act Africa (2016 edition), and considering the fact that three South African acts are also included in the highly competitive category, this nomination is significant.
But will she reject it this time?
Recall that last year, after the winner of the category was announced, Yemi Alade took to her social media page to drag the awards committee for three reasons:
  1. That the Best African Act award was given backstage, before the main event
  2. That the award programme is simply ‘glorified’
  3. That the awards organisers were guilty of favouring Ghana’s Stonebwoy over her
Read her words (in caps, as she wrote them):
However, the singer has taken a sharp turn. Moments after MTV alerted her of the 2016 nomination, Yemi Alade quickly took to her page to celebrate. “Thank you for the love. I would be no where without it,” she wrote, before asking loyal fans to go vote for her.

However, discerning fans are already asking the singer important questions.

Well, she could get away with the criticism because in a later interview with PUNCH, she said this when asked what she would do if nominated again:
“My thought on whether I would be nominated again at the BET Awards is very simple. God blesses and not man. If God keeps blessing me, you cannot hate but join the party.”
Best of luck, Ms Alade. Make haste and bring the glorified award home!
