Mike Adenuga’s Son in Nasty Child Custody Battle With Ex; He ‘Was Not Interested in Marrying Her’

Eniola Adenuga, the son of billionaire Mike Adenuga is currently battling his ex girlfriend Maggie Ogun for the custody of their 16-month–old daughter.
According to the Nation Newspapers, an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos granted Adenuga rights to the child, but the pharmacist mum has filed for leave to appeal and for all proceeding to be suspended until the case is legally resolved.
The Chief Magistrate O.A. Ogunbowale had dismissed Maggie Ogun’s claim that Adenuga cannot take care of the child, and gave him overnight access to the child every fortnight, from 8 am on Saturday to 12 noon on Sunday. This took effect from March 16.
At the hearing on Wednesday, the magistrate was absent, stalling the proceeding. Also, Adenuga changed counsel, Adesokan & Adesokan to Akintunde Williams & Co.
But, here’s what we know of the case; see his claims:
  • He kicked off a relationship with Maggie Ogun in October, 2013
  • She got pregnant in 2014
  • He took care of that pregnancy, paid for antenatal at Reddington Hospital
  • He placed her on a N100,000 monthly allowance
  • He flew her to London to have the baby, and she gave birth on October 23, 2014. He also cleared hospital bill worth 22,000 pounds, paid for first class ticket back to Lagos, all of these after she had spent three months at the Cardogan Gardens, London home with his mother
  • Trouble started when she allegedly denied him access to the child after she returned because he refused to marry her
  • He still paid her N200, 000 for the child’s monthly upkeep
  • He pays N600, 000 per term at the child’s creche
  • Ogun allegedly leaves the child in care of her grandmother and houseboy/gateman in an unhygienic condition
But Ogun counters these claims. According to her;
  • She took the child to his mother’s home in Victory Island, and sometimes slept over. Plus she took the child to Mike Adenuga’s home in Banana Island, thrice a week
  • Trouble started when his mother wanted her to stay with the child for two weeks, a request Ogun’s family refused since she was not married to Adenuga
  • While trying to resolve this conflict, Adenuga stormed her home with the police on October 13, demanded for the child to be produced and destroyed her phone when she tried to record the scene
  • She only left the child in care of a paid nanny and her grandmother, and this was prior to when the child started creche
  • That the child is healthy, save for one time she had teething problems and was promptly treated at Reddington, plus she pays for the child’s bills at Reddington where doctors certified her healthy
  • She has never denied him access to the child; he only wants full custody. This is all she has refused to bow to, as he allegedly is unfit to care for a child; he allegedly comes home at 12
The court is yet to make a final ruling.
