Halima Abubakar has finally opened up on her broken relationship which led to the award winning thespian to go through a rough time. In an interview with Encomium, the Kogi born actress spoke about issues which affected her and lot more.
Excerpts:
What’s happening right now from the stable of Halima?
We just completed two of our movies,’ how I was raped’ and ‘the bully’. It took a while but we needed time to research thoroughly before putting the movies out.
Does the movie how ‘‘I was raped’’ revolve around your personal life?
It’s not my story, but it’s a true life story.
There was a rumor about you being depressed sometime ago, how true is it?
Yes, I was depressed for about seven months, bit of it is in the movie but I didn’t go into details. It’s well explained in my book.
What was the cause of your depression?
I broke up with my boyfriend and I didn’t handle it well. Falling in love was kind of new to me. Then having problem upon problem till it ended up in a major breakdown.
What is the title of the book and when is it set to be out?
I will keep the title under wrap for now, but it would be out on my birthday.
Is there any man in your life currently?
None for now.
What mistake you perhaps wouldn’t like to repeat?
Sharing my problem with people that are not worth a cup of tea to me.
Being a Muslim there were comments on social media about your cleavage revealing, what’s your take on that?
Religion doesn’t have anything to do with appearance as far as I am concerned. I can be under hijab (veil) and be the worst human being on earth and I can be myself and dress the way I want to be addressed and be responsible.
What’s the latest concerning your charity organization, Halima Abubakar foundation for the youth?
We are trying to see how we can support people, whether special children or healthy children that don’t have any means of survival.
We don’t have money but we contribute the little we can. And of course, the foodstuffs I distribute are still on. Although my foundation is still very new because I have been working with my name all these years, we have been able to provide food and water to many children. And of course, free books for children in school. And very soon, I am thinking of adopting a child. so we are growing daily and I am thinking of adopting a child. I have a million books printed that I share to children free in schools.
