Kenya have been disqualified from the 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series for using overage players.
The decision comes after the Confederation of African Football (Caf) ruled that five players over the age of 20 all featured in the East African side in the first round first leg in Sudan on 3 April.
This was deemed to be in breach of the confederation’s rules which state that only players born after 1 January 1997 are eligible to participate in the qualifiers.
As a result, Sudan, Kenya’s opponents in the first round tie, qualifies automatically for the second round in their bid to reach the finals in Zambia next year.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) can contest the decision with the Caf’s Appeal Board within three days of the pronouncement.
